English Kills Art Gallery is proud to present Peter Dobill: AB UNO, the artist’s first New York solo exhibition, presenting a comprehensive overview of his practice of endurance actions.
Dividing the gallery between live actions over a four-week period and a video overview of his past five years of performance work, AB UNO surveys Dobill’s explorations into the mental and physical limits of his body, focusing on energy exchange between artist and audience.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is Receiver, the 2008-2009 Franklin Furnace Fund for Performance Art Grant commissioned action-installation. The most ambitious action-installation attempted yet by Dobill, Receiver
will find the artist situated in a hermetic energy space, immersed in a milk pool as milk simultaneously drops from the ceiling into his nose, challenging his only means of breathing.
